U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors to Convene on August 8; Public Invited to Observe and Comment
The U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors will meet in an open session on August 8, 2023, at Postal Service headquarters, 475 L’Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC. The meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. ET in the Benjamin Franklin Room on the 11th floor. The agenda includes remarks from the Chairman and the Postmaster General, committee reports, and more. A public comment period will follow, with registration required for participation.
WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors has announced an open session meeting to be held on August 8, 2023, at Postal Service headquarters, 475 L’Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC. The meeting will commence at 4:00 p.m. ET in the Benjamin Franklin Room on the 11th floor, and the public is welcome to attend.
The Board's agenda for the meeting includes:
- Remarks of the Chairman of the Board of Governors
- Remarks of the Postmaster General and CEO
- Approval of the Minutes
- Committee Reports
- Quarterly Financial Report
- Quarterly Service Performance Report
- Approval of Tentative Agenda for the Nov. 14 Meeting
Following the adjournment of the open session, a public comment period will begin, not exceeding 45 minutes. During this time, members of the public may comment on any item or subject listed on the agenda. Registration for participation in the public comment period is mandatory, either in person or via teleconference.
"Engaging with the public is a vital part of our process, and we encourage interested individuals to register and share their thoughts," a representative of the Board stated.
Registration for the public comment period ended on Aug. 6 at noon ET. Those wishing to participate were required to provide their first and last name, a valid email address, and a phone number. Speakers were allotted a maximum of three minutes each, with the exact time determined after registration closed.
For those unable to attend in person, the open session meetings of the Board of Governors are available on live audio webcasts at USPS Board of Governors Sessions. Three hours after the conclusion of the open session meeting, a recorded audio file will be accessible for listening. In compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the audio webcast will be open-captioned.
